Over 100 years old houses in town have been renovated into modern retrospective diners. It is called Machiya, some of them are made perfectly Japan traditional style, and some are finely fused old Japan and Western.

Izakaya is usually in reasonable prices with a la carte menu. In fine diners in Gion area you may bump into Geisha on the street if you are lucky.
